Hally Bayer

The Beginning:
My lifelong dream of sharing health and fitness came true with the opening of THRIVE in 2009. My passion for teaching and for health & fitness began as a young dancer and as a daughter of two school teachers who inspired their students every day. When I was fifteen years old, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Over the next two years, I was hospitalized, heavily medicated and operated on three times to save my life. After my recovery, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and began visiting children in hospitals and giving them hope and inspiration. It was then that I made helping others my life-long goal.

Education:
I graduated from my dream school, Cornell University, where I studied Human Development and met my husband, Nick.
After graduating, I followed Nick to Atlanta, GA where I worked as a Social Skills Teacher and psychotherapist while earning my Master’s degree in Counseling from Georgia State University.

Pilates Training:
I completed comprehensive Pilates Instructor Training with Power Pilates and constantly diversify my training with continuing education courses from a wide range of talented Pilates trainers. I currently teach private sessions and mat classes at Thrive.
My goal is to motivate and challenge my clients with an intense workout, while maintaining a gentle and compassionate approach. I’m all about being present with my client and facilitating the workout he/she needs in the moment.

Nutritional Experience/Training:
My nutritional training began with my personal experiences in healing through nutrition. Although my health improved after my surgeries, I began having symptoms of Crohn’s disease while I was a graduate student. My doctors put me on more medication and performed more surgeries, to no avail. Finally I met nutrition and healing coach, Catherine Carrigan of Total Fitness in Atlanta, GA., who taught me to heal my body through changes in diet and lifestyle. I studied with Catherine in her Nutritional Mastery Course and later graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition becoming a Certified Health Coach.

Yoga Training:
I trained in Baptiste style Power Yoga, with my business partner and friend, Steve Gold of Philly Power Yoga. I have been practicing yoga since my days at Cornell and now enjoy taking and teaching yoga at Thrive and Philly Power Yoga. I teach private yoga sessions upon request.

  • An open level, lunchtime Pilates Mat workout. Pop in over lunch to get your body moving and blood flowing! Written up as one of the best mid-day workouts in Philly, it's guaranteed to be effective and challenging!

  • Flow and Ground: The School Mindfulness Project Fundraiser
  • Join us for an evening dedicated to raising funds for our Studio Partner, The School Mindfulness Project.  SMP's mission is to help students and teachers in Philadelphia's underserved schools achieve greater physical and emotional well-being through yoga and meditation. Spend an evening mindfully moving, enjoying refreshments and mingling with your fellow PPY+Thrive community members, all for a great cause! 
     
    The evening will include:

    5:30-6:15pm with Hally 
     
    Yoga Flow
    6:30-7:15pm with Colette
     
    Meditation
    7:15-7:30pm with Colette

After strengthening the body head-to-toe, you will stretch, breathe and end with a mindful moment to soak in all the positive vibes.
