This fall's Yoga/Creative Movement class will involve the practice and understanding of fun, kid-friendly yoga poses, as well as the practice of stillness and breathing. The class will involve elements of play including investigations of animal movements that aid in the practice of the yoga poses that are being learned. The children will have an opportunity to be leaders and followers and will be given plenty of space to expand their bodies and their imaginations. The class will offer opportunities for each child to feel strong and to practice kindness and community.
This is a drop off class. Parents/Grandparents/Nannies are welcome to stay in the lobby while the children participate.Learn More
What's it all about?
In this workshop you will learn how to incorporate proper breathing patterns into each move, virtually slowing down the flow, increasing the level of challenge and inviting longer inhalations and exhalations. Additionally, we will begin infusing Sun Salutations with floating into Chaturanga/Low Plank from Halfway Lift and forward into Halfway Lift/Forward Bend, and or float into a Pike and or into a Handstand then to Halfway Lift/Forward Bend poses. We will comb through the nuances and details of precisely executing Sun Salutations A & B as it is practiced in the Ashtanga Yoga System.
Why you should take this workshop:
This will be a great opportunity to learn the mechanical aspects and anatomical aspects of all the postures pertaining to Sun Salutation A & B, while also breaking down the sequential order of each and better understanding how the breath is used throughout the entirety of each. This workshop is open to all levels of practice.
During this 2 hour workshop we will learn:
• The body mechanics of inversions pertaining to Sun Salutations
• Practice body alignment in preparation for planks, pikes, float ins & outs
• How to modify and adapt each posture fully as they are expressed
• How to engage the right muscle groups and body connections
• How to sustain proper breathing control throughout for a more intense practice
